Utah 08 Trip Report

Timp Rules! The skys were all socked in on our flight and I was sad to miss the fabulous view of the valley. But alas, Timp stood tall to welcome us in. The clouds broke long enough to get a peak of Ash & Bobby's house from the sky! Tender mercies!

Too old for Frostbite Black!

Heather can pull off anything - even frostbite black! Funny we were at opposing ends of the nation and all in extreme temperatures! As you get on the lift there is a sign that says, "Check your friends nose for frostbite." No kidding ... Ash and I both have peeling noses and Justin has a black spot on his cheek - serious stuff!

POWDER!

The powder hounds were back at it and love our secret trails and powdery meadows! It looked like a staged over-flocked Christmas card scene and was such a beautiful day! Missed the boys so maybe the mountains will call us back in March. xo

The newlyweds are doing great ... working, school and getting their apartment organized. Their style would be "Early-Marriage" with a little of this and a little of that. They finally got a new bed and Ry & Linz are conveniently moving to donate some goods to the cause. Happy 3 weeks! xo

Kids grow fast these days!

We were only gone 6 days and Cash barely fits in the stroller!

There's no place like home!

We left Utah in a blizzard! This much snow would gridlock us in Dallas, and maybe Utah should heed some caution! We were the 5th flight to attempt take off yesterday and it didn't go so well. The pilot aborted halfway down the runway and then trying to pull off, slid off the runway and got the front nose stuck. They closed the airport while 20 or so plows hit the runway again. Meanwhile, they had several men w/ square nose shovels (not snow shovels) dig to get us out and then used the little tug to tow us back. We had to re- de-ice and try it again. Needless to say, when we finally lifted off, the plane clapped and cheered with relief and after 6 hours on the aircraft, we were grateful to not be a story on the Nightly News.

Haley is a good cousin even tho Tanner says ... HELP ME GWAMMA!

frostbite is the new black

i dont recommend the windchill... but the big apple has a few adoring features to compensate.

1. magnolia's banana pudding:  as a connoisseur of the stuff, i can tell you that magnoilas does a pretty good job.  they are famous for their cupcakes, but i favor their secret weapon of banana slices, nilla wafers, and creamy pudding.  sadly, I am capable of finishing their generous portion sizes on my own.

2. broadway:  the windchill plays in here... while waiting in line for tickets, the jumbo screen across the street kept reminding us that the temp was hovering around 20 degrees (i dont actually want to factor wind chill into that).  but it was worth it - legally blonde was fantastic as a musical.

3. grime:  the silver lining here is that the grime and dirt of the nyc coupled with the raw public transportation reminded me of how much i love dc.  thanks lawmakers for decreeing short buildings and clean metros.

4. garrett carmel corn:  oprah wasnt kidding when she named it one of her favorite things, it sure is tasty.  i got a bag as soon as i arrived, and right before boarding the bus again.  with any luck i wont run out until i go back.  (who am i kidding, it is almost gone.)

5. kameron: (these numbers obviously have no bearing on importance) i am so glad to have a friend in ny that i can go visit.  and not just any friend, a great friend.  kameron was one of my favorite roommates, and is going to be rich and famous (you have to hang onto those ones!).  she was nice enough to let me stay with her, and brave the elements.  she is even willing to stand on steps so we can take pictures together, which i appreciate a lot.  (matt is great too.)

(while we are listing things, i would just like to mention how grateful i am for knit boots, thinsulate coats, and hand sanitizer.)

--CAUTION--WORK ZONE--

We heard some noise from down the hall and arrived in Tanner's room to see him supervising his toys making sure that they were getting the work done that they needed to. We are just amazed at his work ethic.

New Toy!

Tanner wanted to be just like his buddy Cash and play in a walker... nothing but smiles!
